Akropong (Ash), Oct 5, GNA – The Reverend John B. Gibbons of the Church of God, has called on Christians to respect their traditional rulers so as to promote peace and progress in their communities. He said since the church and the state had vital roles to play in nation building, it was imperative that they worked hand in hand to achieve this objective.
Rev. Gibbons was delivering the sermon at a thanksgiving service organised by the Akropong Local Council of churches near Abuakwa in the Atwima district of Ashanti on Sunday in honour of Nana Appiah Sarfo-Kantanka, Akroponghene during his first anniversary on his enstoolment as the Akroponghene.
He reminded Christians that they had the authority to change their destinies through prayers but asked them to be serious, obedient and humble and wait for the Lord.
Rev Gibbons said Ghanaians needed God’s power to walk through the wilderness of life and asked them to walk in the way of the Lord. Nana Sarfo-Kantanka expressed appreciation to the Local Council of Churches for organising the thanksgiving service for him and pledged to co-operate and seek advice from church leaders in the discharge of his traditional duties.
