Litigation wastes resources-Kyidomhene

Akyem Swedru, June 3, GNA-Nana Appianing Kwaframoah III, the Kyidomhene of the Akyem Bosome Traditional Area on Saturday said litigation was a waste of precious resources and urged that parties engaged in disputes learn to resolve their differences amicably. Nana Kwaframoah said this when he chaired a three-member Judiciary Committee of the Bosome Traditional Council to adjudicate in a dispute between Nana Poti, the queenmother of Akyem Ofoase-Kuma and Mr Barima Adu-Twum, Managing Director of Adu-Twum Barimah Ventures.

The dispute was over the refusal of the queenmother to allow Mr Adu-Twum to be installed as the new chief of Akyem Ofoase to occupy the stool, which was vacant for some years now.

Nana Kwaframoah in his ruling said evidence adduced by both parties showed that Mr Adu-Twum came from the Royal house, adding that since he possessed the necessary requirements of a chief there was no reason for the queenmother to disqualify him from ascending the throne. The committee awarded a cost of one million three hundred cedis against the queenmother.

Other members of the committee were Nana Kwateman Munkyin II, queenmother of the Akyem Bosome Traditional Area and Nana Kwabena Obeng II, Saanahene of the Bosome Traditional Council. 03 June 06
