Accra, Aug. 10, GNA – The Libyan Ambassador to Ghana, Mr Mohammed Gamudi on Thursday paid a courtesy call on the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Sheikh Ibrahim Cudjoe Quaye to re-affirm relations between their countries and discuss steps to further boost development initiatives.
Mr Gamudi said Ghana was not a new place for investment for Libya and it would continue to invest and assist. He noted that Libya invested in the Golden Tulip Hotel that had attained a four star status and it was also developing the City Hotel in Kumasi to give it a state of the art status.
The Libyan Ambassador described as unfortunate the massive movement of Ghanaians and other Africans to Europe through unapproved routes that sometimes resulted in deaths.
“About 50 per cent of what the youth require to make fortunes is here and that they must therefore take advantage of these great potentials to better their lives as Europe is not as rosy as they see it,” he said.
Mr Gamudi called for intensive public education to make the youth understand the need to contribute their human resource capacity to the country’s development process for accelerated growth. He said Ghana was developing rapidly as a result of the prudent economic policies which had won the trust of the international community.
“The peace and stability prevailing must be maintained as these are necessary for attracting investment.=94 Mr Gamudi said it was about time a sister city relationship between Accra and Tripoli was considered to open doors for cooperation between the two cities.
Sheikh Quaye expressed gratitude to the Libyan Government for supporting Ghana and urged stronger collaboration in all areas of bilateral relations.
He solicited the assistance of Libya for the completion of the national mosque at Kanda and also called for support in the area of education. 10 Aug. 06
