Lets sustain our peace – Amoako

Mr Mark Dompreh Amoako, the Municpal Chief Executive of the Akwuapem South Municipal Assembly, has said that Ghana now enjoys a great deal of peace inspite of its long chequered history.

Mr Mark Dompreh Amoako said this at Nsawam during the 55th Independence Anniversary Celebration which was on the theme “Sustaining Peace and Democracy for national development”.

Mr Dompreh said peace is essential for the development of the national and thus we need peace in our homes, schools, communities, churches, work place in the nation at large.

He said Ghana is a beacon of peace in Africa and had helped to maintain peace on the continent and in the entire world by contributing troops to the United Nations peace missions.

He said as a nation, we are constituted of many tribes, linguistic groups and cultures, on the political front, we are a multi-party state but we should not allow these differences to divide us or tear us apart.

He said in democracy, separation of power and rule of law are cardinal and that the state institutions must be nurtured to grow and function within the law just as political parties must conduct their campaigns in a responsible manner such that our peace is not compromised.
