Let’s solve the land disputes in our region- Nana Agyemang Duah appeals

Goaso (B/A), Aug. 13, GNA – Nana Agyemang Duah, Chief of New-Sawireso in Asunafo South District of Brong-Ahafo, has called on the Regional House of Chiefs to help resolve the numerous land disputes before approaching the government to divest itself of stool lands in the region. The Chief said it was not for nothing that the erstwhile CPP government vested some stool lands in the region to the state.

Nana Agyemang was contributing to a discussion on land issues in the Region at a meeting of Kukuom Traditional Council at Kukuom. The vesting of lands in Ahafo and Sunyani areas of the Region to the State has for some time now been a source of concern to chiefs and the people and several appeals have been made to the government to divest itself of the lands to enable the chiefs enjoy the full benefits of their lands, the Nana Agyemang said. Nana Agyemang said land disputes could lead to serious clashes and it was incumbent on the chiefs to eliminate the disputes “so we can effectively fight our case with government”.
