The Most Reverend Dr Daniel Yinkah Sarfo, Anglican Archbishop of the Internal Administrative Province of Ghana, has called on Christians to show love and care for the poor and the marginalized in the society.
He said as we celebrate the birth of the Messiah we should rededicate ourselves to the cause of humanity by helping to make life more comfortable for the needy, the vulnerable and the destitute in society.
The occasion must also be used to promote genuine reconciliation and goodwill among all people.
Delivering a Christmas sermon at the Saint Cyprian’s Anglican Cathedral in Kumasi, he appealed to Ghanaians to accept to forgive each other of the wrongs of the past and live in total peace and harmony.
He said a national thanksgiving to God was needed to show appreciation for his abundant mercies and gift of peace.
“Let us continue to maintain the peace in the country as it is a necessary ingredient for national growth and development”, he said.
At Brotherhood Temple, South Suntreso- Kumasi, the Right Rev Seth K. Adofo, the Primate, admonished Christians to desist from negative activities that provide reason for people to criticize and question the relevance of the Christmas celebration.
He said the occasion must be used for sharing and visiting neighbours and anything unchristian must be avoided.
Primate Adofo expressed unhappiness with the situation where people take advantage of the celebration to cheat by inflating the prices of goods and services, engage in excessive drinking and other immoral practices.
He urged the faithful to let the spirit of God to guide and control them to make the yuletide a blessing to all humankind.
Primate Adofo urged his colleagues in the Church’s Ministry to focus on bringing salvation to the people and boldly denounce social injustice, corruption and other evils in the society.
