Let’s do more to fight evils plaguing society – Rev Dr Upton

The President of the Baptist World Alliance, the Reverend Dr John Upton, has urged Christians to do more to fight social injustice and other evils plaguing society.

This, he said, demands that they become good examples in their various communities and workplaces and refuse to be corrupted, shun arrogance and insensitivity to the suffering of others.

The Rev Dr Upton was speaking at a special service held to welcome him to the Grace Baptist Church, Amakom, on his maiden visit to the Ashanti Region.

He appealed to Christians to reach out to the poor, the vulnerable and the needy and to bring comfort to such people.

Rev Dr Upton expressed discomfort with the situation where people had become individualistic and selfish saying, members of the society had stopped to be each other’s keeper and said this was to blame for the growing social deviance, crime and callousness.
