Let work together to improve the education – Botwe

Mr Ebenezer Botwe, Public Relations Officer of Awutu-Senya Directorate of the Ghana Education Service, has called on local stakeholders to partner the directorate to help improve academic performance in the area.

Mr Botwe said this during an award ceremony where 10 students were awarded for their good performance in an essay competition at Awutu Beraku.

It was organised by Cheerful Hearts Foundation and participated by the selected children from Adventist Preparatory, St. Kilian Catholic and St. Joseph Golden Academy schools all in Awutu Beraku.

Each student received story books, Dictionary, certificate and a scholarships ranging from 100 and 200 Ghana Cedis.

The event which was part of the Foundation Reading Project in the district titled “Reading Clinic for Rural schools” was sponsored by Vodafone Ghana Reading Project.

Mr Botwe said reading makes a student improve his or her vocabulary and also a key to improving the academic performance.

He said the directorate had plans to construct a modern public library facility at Awutu Beraku for students in the area and appealed to Philanthropists and other benevolent organizations to help make the plan successful.

Mr Botwe on behalf of district director of education and the entire management of the directorate thanked the NGO and Vodafone Ghana Foundation for their assistance in the promotion of education in the area.

Mr Eric Opoku Agyeman, Executive Director of the Foundation, said the schools were selected following a research conducted in three schools in Awutu Beraku.

He said the aims and objectives of the Reading Clinic project is to enable pupils and students cultivate good reading habits to help them improve their education.
