Let us remain united to build nation – Deputy Minister

Agona Swedru, May 15, GNA – Mr William Ofori Boafo, Deputy Minister of Defence has called on Ghanaians to remain united and to live in peace for national development.

He made the call at the enstoolment of Mrs Breda Amamoo wife of Mr J G Amamoo, a former Ambassador as the “Dompimhemaa” of Agona Swedru on Thursday.

Under the stool name of Nana Afua Buama Otoo, Mrs Amamoo would be responsible for mobilising the youth to initiate development programmes in the town.

Mr Boafo, who is also the Member of Parliament for Akropong, reminded Ghanaians that peace and unity were prerequisites for the country’s development. He stressed the used the need for traditional authorities to complement the government’s efforts by initiating development programmes to improve the living standard of the people. The Deputy Defence Minister urged chiefs to adapt to the changing times to the chieftaincy institution progressive. After swearing the oath of allegiance to the Swedruman Council of chiefs and elders, Nana Afua Buama promised to promote the well being of the people by mobilising the youth to initiate projects and to advance the education of girls.

Mr Amamoo appealed to the people to rally behind the government to ensure good governance. Nana Kobina Botwe II, Chief of Swedru commended the Japanese government for its financial assistance towards the upgrading of the Clinic in the town to the status of a hospital.
