Let us ensure the election is not disturbed – Kufuor

Sandema (UE), Oct. 25, GNA – President John Agyekum Kufuor on Sunday appealed to Ghanaians to ensure that the December 7 elections were not disturbed but allowed to proceed smoothly.

In addition, he said contestants must accept the results of the elections conducted in a peaceful, free and fair manner in good faith. President Kufuor made the appeal when addressing a durbar of the chiefs and people of the Builsa Traditional Area, at Sandema in the Builsa District on the first day of his three-day official tour of the Upper East Region.

President Kufuor asked the electorate to vote for a President and parliamentary candidate, who could co-ordinate easily for the development of their area.

He said the achievements made by the Government since 2001 had laid a firm foundation for an accelerated growth in the country’s socio-economic development.

President Kufuor pledged the Government’s determination to modernise agriculture and rehabilitate the Sandema-Chuchuliga-Fumbisi road and commended the people for the peace and stability in the area. Sandem-Nab Ayeita Apoatiba Azantilow, Paramount Chief of the Builsa Traditional Area, expressed appreciation to the Government for the development in the area.

These he cited as school buildings, health care, and provision of potable water. The Sandem-Nab invited President Kufuor to attend this year’s Feok festival scheduled for December 18.
