“Let there be peace” – Deputy Imam

Kumasi, April 17, GNA – Sheikh Amen Bonsu, THE Deputy National Imam of the Ghana Muslim Mission (GMM), has called on Muslims all over the country to let peace prevail in their communities. He said conflicts among Muslims and other non-Islamic practices and behaviours needed to stop.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in Kumasi Sheikh Bonsu, who is the Managing Director of Amen Scientific Herbal Hospital in Kumasi said, “It is very sad that after 50 years of independence we still hear of in-fighting among Muslims.”

“They should know that we have keen competition in evangelism and so whatever negative behaviours you put up will affect you and the development of the Islamic religion”, he said.

The Deputy Imam said what some Muslims should know in matters of democracy as was preached by the Prophet Mohammed was on free expression of opinions and ideas that bring about peace, unity and development. He said if it was because of politics that some sects fight then “I am afraid, they have got it all wrong. They should rather get up and pray for forgiveness of sins”, he said.

Sheikh Bonsu stressed the need for all Muslims to be very careful and stand by the teachings of Islam as given by God and refrain from doctrines that would provoke the conscience of people. 17 April 07
