Let not Karbo wreck our peace and stability – ThinkTank

Director of the Democratic Institute of Ghana (DIG), E. M. N. Ametor-Quarmyne is calling on Ghanaians to condemn the New Patriotic Party’s Anthony Karbo for what he describes as the “most diabolical plot” to disrupt the December polls allegedly captured on tape.

According to Mr Ametor-Quarmyne, “this plot is most disturbing because in the recent past, NPP operatives… have made scary statements bordering on disturbing the peace and stability of our dear nation.”

A secret tape recording baring a voice with a striking similarity to that of Mr Karbo was released on Monday by a pro-government pressure group. The individual on the tape is heard plotting to use the services of mercenaries tagged as “bad boys” from Libya, Togo, Benin and Liberia.

There were plots targeted at the Electoral Commission and senior members of the Ghana Armed Forces who hail from the Volta Region.

In a statement, Mr. Karbo denied knowledge of the said secret tape and accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of scheming to cow him into submission for exposing some alleged rot in the government.

But in reaction to the said comments, the DIG in statement said: “This latest plot of Anthony Kaboo to target the military, especially senior officers of Ewe ethnic extraction, a particular very senior officer of the Police Service also an Ewe, and some very important national institutions including the Electoral Commission to denigrate and bring down their credibility in order to pave way for the rejection of the outcome of the elections causing confusion and chaos and subsequently mayhem in this country, is the most scary of all yet.”

The Director of the Institute called on all Ghanaians to stand against such a plot and condemn it in unison.
