Kumasi, June 17, GNA – A new church building of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was on Saturday inaugurated at Asuoyeboa in the Kumasi metropolis.
The chapel, the fifth in the metropolis after those of Bantama, Dichemso, Bomso and Asokwa, has classrooms for children and adults, offices for bishops and clerks, a library, storerooms, kitchen, toilet facilities, baptismal font and relief society hall for women. Addressing the congregation Mr Samuel Stanley Darko, the Kumasi Stake Public Affairs Director, said the inauguration of the chapel was to build bridges with non-members of the community and to acquaint them with the teachings of Christ.
He said members initially used to worship in a private house in the community and through payments of tithes from members and support from parent church, the chapel had been built for the congregation that now stood at over 3,000.
