Latter-Day Saints donates 270 wheel chairs to the disabled

Kumasi, Oct 21, GNA- The Ashanti Regional branch of the Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints Church, on Sunday presented 270 wheel chairs to the Department of Social Welfare in Kumasi. The items were presented to the department for distribution to the disabled in the Ashanti region.

Mr. Samuel Stanley Darko, Regional Public Affairs Director of the Church, who presented the items, said the gesture was in line with the social responsibility of the Church. He said the Church has so far donated about 2,000 wheel chairs to the disabled in the region .

Receiving the items on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr.E.Y.Kwarteng, the Regional Coordinating Director, commended the Church the gesture and called on the public to respect the rights of the disabled to enhance their development

Mr. Pascal Osei-Twumasi, Regional Director of the Department of Social Welfare, said the wheel chairs would be distributed to some selected deprived disabled persons in the region. He warned District Directors of the Department ensure that beneficiaries received the donation.
