Large quantity of marijuana seized in police operation

Large quantity of dried leaves suspected to be marijuana had been seized by the police in Kumasi and one man detained.

Atinga Apala, 20, was arrested with the leaves at Santasi during a special operation mounted to clamp down on the activities of criminals in the metropolis.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Peter Baba, the Ashanti Regional Crime Officer, told journalists that, a number of stolen items were also recovered from the suspect they were holding.

Apala, he said, was cooperating with police investigation and had already mentioned two of his accomplices – “Castro” and “Azaglo”.

He indicated that everything was being made to track down the pair and bring them to justice.

The Crime Officer said Apala would be arraigned as soon as they were done with their investigation.
