Landlord remanded for threatening tenant

Kumasi, Feb. 14, GNA – A circuit court in Kumasi remanded a landlord, Kwadwo Acheampong for allegedly threatening to kill his tenant, Justina Amoabeng for refusing to give him 20,000 cedis. Acheampong, who pleaded not guilty to the charge, will re-appear before the Court on February 16.

Police Chief Inspector R.K. Akoto told the Court presided over by Mr Kwabena Adutwum Mmorosah that for almost two years the tenant lived in a room in the landlord’s house at Ashanti New Town, Kumasi. He said in January 2007, the Landlord, who was unemployed, demanded 20,000 cedis from the complainant.

Chief Insp. Akoto said Acheampong became angry and threatened to kill Amoabeng with a cutlass because complainant could not give him (accused) the money.
