Bolgatanga, Jan. 27, GNA – A two-day workshop on the legislative and judicial review of the Land Administration Project (LAP), has began in Bolgatanga.
It is being organized by the Ministry of Lands and Forestry and attended by all stakeholders including chiefs from the Northern, Upper East and Upper West regions.
Topics to be treated include, the draft final report of the LAP process, Recommendations, Implications of the interpretation of Article 267(5) of the 1992 Constitution on stool land management.
Dr W. Odame Larbi, National Coordinator of LAP, in an overview, said LAP was a long-term project of about 15 to 25 years, which would be broken into phases.
He said the project would take a look into how registries would be established in all the regions and no one in Bolgatanga would have to travel to Accra to register his or her land.
Dr Larbi said the project had four components and that the workshop was a part of the process of gathering views and aimed at arriving at a legal framework that would be acceptable to all.
