Kwame Nkrumah Hall of UCC outdoors a new bus

Cape Coast, Dec. 20, GNA – The Kwame Nkrumah Hall (KHM) of the University of Cape Coast (UCC), on Wednesday outdoored its 15-seater capacity “Toyota Hiace” bus, valued at 252 million cedis, acquired with its internally-generated funds.

At a ceremony attended by lecturers, workers and students of the hall, Dr Peter Kwapong, the hall master, who jointly performed the outdooring with a representative of the hall’s administration, said the idea to purchase the bus was mooted by his predecessor, Mr. Joseph Sefanu in 2003.

He said the motives-behind the acquisition of the bus were, among others, to use it in conveying sick students to the hospital, especially in the night, assisting the hall’s security personnel to discharge their duties effectively, and also to meet the administrative needs of the hall. Dr Kwapong said the KNH, which is the youngest hall in the UCC has been a pace-setter in everything unique in the university, and that it is currently the only hall in the university which has acquired its own means of transport.

According to him, the KNH is a leading hall in UCC and it provides good leadership traits for the other halls to emulate, and that its popular accolade is “the hall of excellence in a university of choice.” Mr Kofi Edgar, the Oguaa hall master, who presided, confirmed that the KNH was indeed playing good leadership roles in the university, a feat he was happy about, and urged the other halls of residence to emulate.

The bus which was presented by Mr Sefanu and received by Dr Kwapong, was dedicated by Reverend Professor David Dodoo, director of School of Physical Sciences and a Minister of the Methodist Church in Cape Coast.
