Kwaebibirim District benefits form 846.3 million cedi HIPC projects

Kade (E/R), May 9, GNA – The Kwaebibirem District Assembly is executing a number of projects at a total cost of 846.3 million cedis under the second phase of the HIPC projects.

They include the construction of three-unit classroom blocks each at the L/A JSS at Abompe and E.P. JSS at Kade at the cost of 209.5 million cedis and 227.8 million cedis, respectively, 20-seater water closet (W.C) toilet with its water system at Akyem Wenchi at a cost of 253.9 million cedis and a 55 million-cedi borehole at Okyinso.

Addressing the Kwaebibirem District Assembly, the District Chief Executive, Mr Yaw Yiadom-Boakye, said the third phase would include the construction of a 270.6 million-cedi 20-seater W/C toilet with water system at Kusi and a six-unit classroom block, office and store at Akyem Takyiman at the cost of 300 million cedis.

He said funds had already been released for the provision of furniture for the school.

Mr Yiadom-Boakye said the district was also implementing a 1.8 billion cedi project under the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFUND) projects.

They include the L/A Primary School at Apinamang, which had been completed and the L/A Primary School at Banso, Salvation Army Primary School at Asuom and the Methodist Primary School at Takrowase. The DCE noted that progress of work on Bomso-Asuom road was satisfactory but that of Takrowase had been at a standstill for sometime now.

He instructed the consultants, the Architectural Engineering Services Limited to warn the contractor to speed up or lose the job.

Mr Yiadom-Boakye named projects being jointly financed by HIPC, donors and the District Assemblies’ Common Fund as a 294.8 million cedis block of six classrooms, office and store for the Roman Catholic Primary School at Boadua, a six-unit classroom block, office and store being built for the L/A Primary School at Okyinso at the cost of 296.4 million cedis and another six-unit classroom block, office and store at Dwenase and the construction of aqua privy toilet at Abodom.

He announced that work on the construction of teachers’ quarters being financed by the European Union Micro project at Soabe was progressing steadily after the delay in its execution at the initial stage.
