Kuwaiti Delegation Calls On VP

A six-man Kuwati Parliamentary delegation, led by Mr Salem Al-Hamand, has called on the Vice-President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama, at the Castle, Osu in Accra.

During discussions, the Vice-President called for the strengthening of the Ghana-Kuwaiti relationship and suggested that the relationship must move from Parliamentary level to the economic level.

He stressed that Ghana and Kuwait must enter into economic relationship that would mutually benefit the two countries.

The Vice-President called for a partnership between Ghana and Kuwait which would be based on friendship and respect for each other to enhance the lives of people in both countries.

He appealed to Kuwaiti businessmen to come and invest in Ghana and also bring their expertise to bear on Ghana’s energy sector.

He also appealed to the Kuwaiti Government to come in to assist Ghanaian farmers to enable them to produce sufficiently to support Ghana’s agricultural needs.

He was grateful to Kuwait for the assistance it gave to Ghana to build the Kpong Dam and the Aboadze Thermal Plant.

He observed that there is the need for both countries to continue to relate cordially to promote the South-South Co-operation.

On their part, Mr Salem Al-Hamad, the leader of the Kuwaiti delegation acknowledged Ghana’s support for Kuwaiti during the attack by Iraq.

He said that the delegation has met the Deputy Minister of Energy and they discussed issues that border on Ghana’s energy sector and how Kuwait can assist Ghana.

Mr Hamad said their visit to Ghana is to strengthen the Kuwait-Ghana Parliamentary Friendship which has been in place for years.

He assured the Vice-President that Kuwait will identify opportunities available in Ghana that Kuwait would come to develop.
