Kumasi: Oil stealing syndicate at BOST busted

The Kumasi Police Command in the Ashanti Region Saturday night arrested the head of Security at the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation (BOST) depot, Yaw Nkansah, for fuel theft.

Nkansah, who is with private security firm, JEDEM, allegedly belonged to a fuel stealing syndicate whose members were all insiders of the regional branch of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company limited.

He was arrested while siphoning 4, 500 litres of fuel into 19 drums with the alleged connivance of the regional BOST Manager.

The syndicate had gone to the storage facility with 24 drums in total to siphon 6,000 litres but could only steal 4,500 litres just before the Police foiled the theft.

XYZ News sources say the suspect, who has routinely been stealing fuel from the storage facility, attempted bribing a vigilante with Ghc5, 000 to buy his trust.

The vigilante, however, rejected the bribe and reported the case to the Police.

Nkansah is helping the Police to investigate the theft.
