Kumasi Manhyia NPP holds congress

Kumasi, Oct 2, GNA – The Manhyia constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at its delegates’ congress held in Kumasi on Saturday re-elected the entire 10-member executive unopposed for another three-year term.

They are Nana Osei Mensah, Chairman, Alhaji Madani Futah, First Vice-Chairman, Mr Michael Opoku, Second Vice-Chairman, Mr Kwasi Boateng, Third Vice-Chairman, Mr Albert Atta Annor, Secretary and Mr Kwabena Baah-Achamfour, Assistant Secretary.

The rest are Mr Kwadwo Afriyie, Organiser, Alhaji Abubakar Alhassan, Youth Organiser, Mr Kwaku Duah, Treasurer and Madam Afua Serwaa, Women’s Organiser.

Addressing the delegates, Dr Kwame Addo Kufuor, Minister of Defence and Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia, reiterated the commitment of the government to develop the country.

He said since he assumed the responsibility as the MP for the constituency, a lot of infrastructure, including provision of school blocks, water, library, electricity, among others, have been provided for the people to improve their living conditions. Dr Addo-Kufuor commended the executive for their hard work and asked them to continue with the same spirit to win more sympathizers into the party to ensure a resounding victory in the 2008 elections. Mr Sam Cudjoe, Ashanti Regional Secretary of the NPP, who swore in the executive into office, advised them to abide by the oath of secrecy of the party.

He urged members of the Party to stop the “pull-him-down” attitude and together work hard towards the victory of the party in the next elections.

Nana Osei Mensah on behalf of the executive pledged to mobilize the rank and file of the party to enable them go on with their programmes and activities peacefully for the development of the NPP in the area.
