Kumasi, June 25, GNA – Mr. Prince Abraham Appiah-Fei, an electrical engineer, has been inducted into office as the new President of Kumasi East Rotary club. He will hold office for one year and replaces Mr. Charles Amoako who held the office for two terms. At a short but impressive ceremony in Kumasi on Wednesday, Mr. Appaih-Fei, the Chief Executive of a non-governmental organization in Kumasi, was given the Rotary Charter to signify his investiture. He pledged to live up to the objective of the Rotary Club summed up in the slogan “Service above self.” The new president, who will elect his executive officers later, said he would work towards attracting more people into the Rotarian fold to help serve humanity especially in the area of improving the lives of the deprived and the needy.
In a brief annual report Mr. Amoako said though Rotary is not a charitable organization it has been committed to works of charity to bring smiles to the faces of the needy. To this end, he said under its Health, Humanity and Hunger Projects (3H), the Kumasi East club during his tenure completed water projects at communities such as Petransa, Poano, Ntinanko, Domeabra and Krakosua all in the Ashanti Region.
On the club’s project on Health, he said an equipment was donated to the Pramso Catholic Hospital at Pramso whiles plans are far advanced to sign a proposal with Boston Children’s Hospital in the US to facilitate the donation of Cardio Equipment to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi.
Mr. Amoako said a parcel of land acquired some years back by Rotary at Mbrom in Kumasi would be developed into a children’s play ground whiles Maternal and Child Health Hospital in Kumasi, a specialized Hospital for Malnourished children, has also been earmarked for assistance. Four new members were inducted into the club.
