Kumasi, Sept 19, GNA – The Reverend Father Kingsley Osei-Boahen, priest in-charge of the Toase Catholic parish, has urged the church, especially the youth to ponder over the rate at which the HIV/AIDS was spreading in the country and come out with pragmatic programmes to fight it.
He said since the disease was real, the church could not afford to fold its arms and watch it to affect members.
Rev Father Osei-Boahen was addressing members of the Kumasi Archdiocesan jamboree of the Catholic Youth Organisation at Toase on Sunday. It had as its theme: “We Have Come To Worship Him”. He charged them not to lead immoral lives, wear dresses that exposed them to danger and other behaviours that could lead them into temptation.
Mr Yaw Owusu Asabre, National and Ashanti Regional Chairman of the CYO, said the management council of the organisation had produced priests, politicians and respectable people in the society. He appealed to priests and CYO members to live lives worthy of emulation so as to win more souls for Christ.
Mr Isaac Adjei, Atwima District Field Officer of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), advised the youth above 18 years not to allow politicians to deceive them with empty promises to vote for them and also asked them to avoid impersonation and vote wisely in December. 19 Sept. 04
