Kufuor back home from South Africa

Accra, July 09, GNA – Former President John Agyekum Kufuor returned home Thursday night from Grahamstown, South Africa, where he participated in two international media conferences held at the Rhodes University.

A statement signed by his Spokesman, Mr Frank Agyekum, said the former President participated in a panel discussion on ‘African Media and Global Development Agenda’ at the 14th annual Highway Africa conference.

He launched a toolkit for the training of journalists and media practitioners in Africa at the 2nd African Education Journalists and Journalists Trainers.

Former President Kufuor was Guest of Honour at a dinner organized for him by the ABSA Bank, reputed to be the biggest bank in South Africa.

The two conferences held concurrently was under the theme ‘African voices – In the Global Space’ and attracted about 400 delegates from around the world including 10 from Ghana.

The Highway conference is the largest gathering of African journalists across the globe and has become a centre of deliberation on the way forward for journalism, the media and information communication technology in Africa.
