Kpehe Catholic Church celebrates 60th anniversary

Accra, Jan 10, GNA – Rev Fr Francis Adoboli, the parish priest of St Paul’s Catholic Church, Kpehe, and Dean of the East Denary of the Catholic Church, has called on Christians to lead the crusade against social vices by leading good lives.

“In this era where society is witnessing all forms of social vices such as bribery and corruption, rape, armed robbery and the like, we Christians must help curb these things by leading the society to Christ”.

In a sermon on Sunday to mark the 60th anniversary of the parish, Rev Fr Adoboli threw a challenge to all Christians to let their lives be a shining example to others so as to reduce the high rate of crimes in the country.

The anniversary is under the theme “Pressing on to reach the goal” is a one year programme that will end in January 2006. Among programmes lined up for the celebration are donation to handicapped homes, health walk, blood donation, crusade retreats and other spiritual programmes.

Rev Fr Adoboli said Christians must not let their faith be a one day affair by worshiping God on only Sundays but must be dedicated and committed to Christ at all times.

He said as part of the church’s effort to promote the social life of parishioners, the church would this year increase its bursary for needy students in the parish to help more parishioners have access to education.

Rev Fr Adoboli said two years ago 10 students were given bursaries whilst 22 benefited from it were last year and expressed the hope the number would increase this year.

The parish’s credit union will take off this year and this will enable parishioners to have access to soft loans.
