Kotoka’s removal is temporal

Following what it says is some misunderstanding regarding the relocation of the statue of General Kotoka from the forecourt of the airport, the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority has in a statement explained that the relocation is only temporary.

The temporal relocation of the statue is to enable contractors begin work on the Arrivals and Departures hall to be built on that spot. The statement said an appropriate location would be found for the statute after the construction works are completed. The construction of the Hall also termed as the “Meeters and Greeters Hall” is part of the expansion and rehabilitation programme of the Kotoka International Airport, which is aimed at positioning it as the preferred gateway to West Africa in line with the objectives of the Vision 2020 programme. When completed, the hall would be equipped, furnished and fitted for the comfort of passengers and the general public.
