Korle Bu healthcare charges up by 150%

Starrfmonline.com can confirm that the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra has revised the charges on its healthcare services by 150%.

Starting from today, Monday June 1, 2015, the nation’s premier health facility will begin charging the new fees on services rendered to patients.

Starrfmonline.com’s sources within the hospital have said all units or departments have been directed to introduce patients to, and begin charging the new charges today.

According to a hospital staff, who spoke on condition of anonymity, “most of the charges have been adjusted upwardly by 150% and we have been asked to go ahead and charge our customers the new figures even though there has been no public notice prior”.

Listed below are some of reviewed laboratory charges

Lipid Profile was GHC 24.00, now GHC54.00

FBC (Full Blood count) was GHC 15.00, now GHC 35.00

LFT (Liver Function test) was GHC 25.00, now GHC 55.00

PSA (Prostate specific antigen) was GHC28.00, now GHC63.00

BUE (Blood urea electrolytes) was GHC15.00, now GHC35.00

LH (Luteinsing hormone) was GHC25.00, now GHC 63.00

Hospital folder for non- health insurance holders costs GHC50.00 instead of the initial GHC 20.00
