Konkombas Hold Literacy Day

Grunshie-ZONGO (Northern Region), 4 NOV. The East Gonja district co- ordinating director, Mr. Samuel Quarcoopome, has called on Ghanaians to attach importance to education. Speaking at a literacy day organised by the Konkomba literacy and development programme (KOLADEP) at Grunshie-Zongo, near Salaga, yesterday, he said education is the greatest legacy parents can bequeath to their children. He commended KOLADEP for its efforts in advancing education in the area and assured it of the support of the district assembly. He urged them to use their platform to educate the people to be responsive to their civic rights and obligations and on the need to pay their basic and other rates to the district assembly. Mr. Quarcoopome identified ignorance, disease and illiteracy as the basic problem plaguing the country and urged all progressive organisations to seriously address these issues.
