The Human Right Division of the High Court presided over by Justice Kofi Essel Mensah has adjourned the case involving the National Democratic Party (NDP), the Electoral Commission (EC) and the Attorney General to November 5.
The case was adjourned because the Attorney General had not received the amended motion of the NDP before appearing in court on Thursday.
The lawyer for the NDP, Steven Ahorlu is asking the court to compel the Electoral Commission to allow its Presidential candidate, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings to contest the December elections.
In an interview with an Accra based radio station after the sitting of the court, Mr. Ahorlu explained “we went to court today to amend an earlier motion we had filed but because not all the persons involved were not present and the statutory time required is three clear days [and] hadn’t yet elapsed so the court adjourned.”
“We filed an originating motion for judicial review earlier but the time we filed it, we were not privy to some information which we now consider essential. So we are now seeking to amend our original motion,” he added.
