Koforidua, Feb 11, GNA – Victims of the Koforidua Central Market fire outbreak would be linked to the Micro Finance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) to be able to re-start their trading businesses. Fire gutted parts of the central market two-weeks ago and razed down 36 stalls mostly packed with textiles but for the timely intervention of the National Fire Service, the story would have been different. The New Juaben Municipal Assembly is facilitating the arrangements and procedures to enable the women have access to the loan. Briefing the GNA in an interview with the Municipal Chief Executive, Nana Adjei Boateng, on how the assembly was handling the issue, he said due to the huge loss, the victims needed loan to re-start their businesses. He said so far the assembly had drawn up estimates in rehabilitating the market before it could be opened for business due to the risky nature of the buildings. Although the entire market was initially closed down, part of it had been opened while the affected parts are cordoned off by the police. When GNA visited the site, most of the victims were there supervising the clearing of the debris and expressed the hope that the loan facility would be accessible for them to begin their businesses. They expressed gratitude to the MCE, the Member of Parliament for Koforidua, Mr Yaw Barimah, the Omanhene Daasebre Oti Boateng, assembly members and all others who showed concern.
