The Central East Regional Police Command has arrested a suspect in connection with a violent highway robbery that took place in the early hours of Sunday, July 6, 2025, along the Kasoa-Winneba road, near Dabanyin, close to Gomoa Buduatta Junction.
According to police reports, the suspect, Mohammed Bello, and four other accomplices, who are currently on the run, ambushed vehicles and robbed passengers and drivers of mobile phones, cash, and personal effects around 12:30 a.m.
The brazen attack left four victims with gunshot wounds, all of whom are currently receiving treatment at a local hospital. The victims, who narrowly escaped worse fates, expressed deep gratitude to the police after news of the arrest reached them.
Swift police action led to the arrest of Mohammed Bello as he attempted to flee the scene. A search on the suspect uncovered a haul of stolen items, including:

A wristwatch, headset, phone charger, and five sticks of cigarettes
A pair of sandals identified by a victim
Police say the suspect is in custody and is assisting with ongoing investigations, while intelligence-led operations are actively underway to track and arrest the remaining four members of the gang.
