Accra, Feb. 3, GNA- The 11.5 kilometre Kasoa-Nyanyaano road, which is in the bad state would be rehabilitated this year, with works expected to commence in May.
Dr Richard Anane, Minister of Roads and Transport, on Friday said this, on the floor of Parliament, in an answer to a question by Mr Oppey Abbey, New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Awutu-Senya on the Ministry’s plans to rehabilitate the roads in Kasoa township.
The Minister said tender documents were being prepared for advertisement and award of the project. Dr Anane said potholes on the roads would be patched as part of this year’s routine maintenance programme, to improve their condition. He said even though there was no exclusive programme now for the rehabilitation of the Kasoa township roads, both the Accra-Cape Coast and the dual carriage Mallam-Kasoa stretch, currently under construction had been asphalted, preventing traffic congestion considerably. Dr Anane said: “Evaluation report on the Kasoa-Ashalajah feeder road is ready and soon rehabilitation works will commence.” He said the Kasoa-Bawjiase road was behind schedule and the contractor had been granted extension of time to complete work on the road by the first quarter of 2006.
Dr Anane said: “About four kilometres of this road project passes through Kasoa township, which will also ease traffic flow.” The Minister said after completion of all the projects, the rest of the Kasoa township roads would be considered, under subsequent improvement programmes. 3 Feb. 06
