The Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East Constituency, Hon. Phyllis Naa Koryoo Okunor, has denied allegations that she was attacked by the former MP, Hon. Hawa Koomson, and her bodyguards during the 2024 general elections.
This denial comes after Naa Koryoo Okunor had previously accused Hawa Koomson of being behind the attack on her vehicle, which allegedly occurred on December 7, 2024, in Iron City, Kasoa.
The incident in question resulted in one fatality and several injuries due to gunfire.
However, according to the Minister of Interior, Hon. Muntaka Muhammed Mubarak, investigations have revealed that Naa Koryoo Okunor denied being attacked or her vehicle being attacked during the incident. The Minister made this known while providing an update on the 2020 and 2024 election violence.
Interestingly, the Minister also revealed that the victims of the attack and the driver of Naa Koryoo Okunor’s vehicle refused to cooperate with the investigation committee, which has made it challenging to ascertain the facts surrounding the incident.
While some victims have recovered, others have been flown abroad for further medical treatment.
