KAS delegation in town to cover NPP parliamentary primaries

Accra, April 29, GNA – A 15- member delegation from the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS), a German Political Foundation has arrived i= n Ghana to observe the New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary primaries schedu= led for Saturday April 30. The team is in the country as part of their efforts to develop and deepen democracy in Ghana.

A statement issued by KAS and copied to the Ghana News Agency on Frida= y said the team are made up of top ranking members of the Christian Democrati= c Union of Germany led by Dr Klaus Sch=FCler, General Manager of the Party. Among the delegation are members of the Africa Democratic Union from 1= 0 countries including Namibia, South Africa, Uganda, Senegal, Mozambique, Democratic Republic of Congo, Angola, Kenya, Tanzania and Zimbabwe It said the objective of the invitation was to provide first hand information to other African countries on the level of internal democracy displayed by political parties in Ghana in respect of the conduct of parliamentary primaries.

The statement said Ghana has written her name on the annals of democracy with the conduct of general elections, adding that it was time to demonstrate to the world the democratic values displayed by political parties in the country. “It is the hope of the Foundation that other African countries will learn from Ghana’s experience of internal party democracy to ensure that appropriate platform is provided to all party members who are prepared and willing to serve their country.
