Kadjebi benefits from Sister City Relationship

Kadjebi, Nov. 4, GNA-Kadjebi township is to benefit from the construction of 200 household toilets worth GHC 150,000 (1.5 billion cedis) under the second phase of the Logo South Programme (LSP). The LSP is a partnership between Kadjebi District Assembly and Alkamade Municipality in the Netherlands, courtesy Sister City relationship.

As part of the programme, 50 water closet toilets and 150 vault chamber toilets would be constructed for the inhabitants. Mr Kofi Adjei Ntim, Kadjebi District Chief Executive who disclosed this at an Assembly session said additional two 20-seater public toilets would be constructed at the main Kadjebi Lorry Park and Martinkordzi. He said the second phase would generate a database through household and street numbering exercise towards an efficient liquid waste management.

Mr Ntim said VNG international, a Dutch NGO would collaborate with an Accra based consulting outfit, JSA to update the baseline data and establish a credible databank system for the Assembly. He said draft proposal for the production of a school milk project has been submitted to Atta Foundation of the Netherlands for consideration and assistance.

The DCE said it is hoped that this project would take off as soon as practicable to facilitate schoolchildren to be fed on fresh milk to boost their Body Mass Index (BMI) and their intelligent quotient. Mr Ntim disclosed that measures were far advanced to sensitise the people to comply with the environmental laws of the country with emphasis on Environmental Assessment Regulations of 1999 (LI 1652). 04 N0v. 07
