Nkawkaw, Feb. 13, GNA- A 12-year-old Fulani boy who allegedly stabbed a 26-year-old mechanic apprentice at Kwahu Tafo was granted a 100-million-cedis bail by the Nkawkaw Juvenile Court on Thursday. Amadu Mahama, who pleaded not guilty to causing unlawful harm will re-appear on February 19.
Prosecuting, Police Inspector John Padmore Arthur, told the court presided over by Mr William Boampong, that on January 16, this year, the victim, Kwame Badu, saw Mahama defecating near a well, serving the community and when he advised him to stop the accused became offended. He said the accused pulled out a knife and stabbed Badu in the stomach causing some of his intestines to gush out and he was rushed to the local St Joseph’s Clinic for first aid.
Badu was then sent to the Kwahu Government Hospital at Atibie where he was operated upon and later referred to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital for further medical attention, the prosecution added. He said the situation, which sparked off a three-day demonstration by the local people led the District Security Committee (DISEC) to give a two-week ultimatum to all Fulanis in the area to leave to ensure peace.
