Justice Taylor called to rest

Accra, Sept. 9, GNA – The death has been reported in Accra of Mr Justice John Nicholas Kobina Taylor, a retired Justice of the Supreme Court.

Mr Justice Taylor’s death occurred on August 15, 2008. He was 83. A statement signed in Accra on Tuesday by Mr Kobina Taylor, son of the deceased, said the late Justice Taylor retired from the Ghana Bench as a Supreme Court Judge in March 1990 after attaining the then compulsory retiring age of 65.

It said the deceased rendered almost 21 years of distinguished service on the Bench.

The statement said before the late Justice Taylor’s retirement in 1990 he served as a Crown Counsel, State Attorney, Director of Public Prosecutions, Acting Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice and a Judge of the High Court from where he was appointed to the Supreme Court in 1980 without being promoted to the Court of Appeal. Funeral arrangements are yet to be announced by the family.
