Judicial Service Week Launched In Bolgatanga

Bolgatanga, Sept. 1, – Activities marking this year’s Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG) week in the Upper East Region have been launched in Bolgatanga with a call on government to provide modern equipment for the effective administration of justice. Mr Stephen Amissah-Aggrey, national president of JUSAG who made the call, said lack of modern recording equipment for court proceedings and other logistics, militate against the speedy administration of justice. He said no rpt no foreign investor would invest in an economy whose judicial system is ineffective and appealed to members of the association to rededicate themselves to ensure a disciplined and honest judicial service. In a welcoming address, Mr Peter Anaba, regional chairman of JUSAG, appealed to the judicial council to initiate action to provide transport and court buildings in the region. Mr Justice Stephen Kanyoke, supervising High Court Judge in charge of the region, who presided over the launching ceremony, asked members of the association to take keen interest in its activities. As part of the activities, the association has presented 80,000 cedis worth of bread and 100,000 cedis to the Bolgatanga Nutrition Rehabilitation Centre run by the Ministry of Health. Mr Yaw Brobbey Mpiani, health services administrator in the region who received the donation, thanked JUSAG for its generosity.
