Journalist joins NPP race

A journalist Richard Asante has declared his intention to contest for the Youth Organizer position of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at Suame.

In an interaction with DAILY GUIDE, the 36-year-old said he would use his skills to unite the people, especially the young people who remain divided as a result of internal wrangling in the area.

According to him, the NPP needs to woo floating voters in order to win the 2016 general elections.

Asante, who is pursuing law at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), asked the party’s Electoral College in the Suame Constituency to support his bid to rebrand the party.

“We don’t need an arrogant person as we want to capture power. We need someone who can bring about extra votes to the party; someone with attractive persona committed to work hard for the propagation of the NPP’s vision and ideas,” he noted.

The Youth Organizer aspirant was hopeful of rallying the youth for the task ahead.

He noted that the party’s members in the constituency were not aware of the numerous projects undertaken in the Constituency by the Member of Parliament MP), Osei-Kyei-Mensah Bonsu, asserting he would propagate them to restore hope and confidence of the constituents in NPP.

“I am grassroots man, who has worked tirelessly as Polling Station Youth Organiser in the constituency with constituency executives,” Asante noted.

He is also credited to have catalogued the 2012 Suame constituency campaign strategies in a booklet and printed more than 3,000 copies, which were distributed to the electorate.
