Former Sports Minister Nii Lantey Vanderpuye has praised Black Stars forward Jordan Ayew, describing him as a player who has grown into a mature leader on the pitch.
Speaking to Citi Sports, Vanderpuye highlighted Ayew’s experience and development over the years, noting that the Black Stars forward is now reaping the rewards of consistency and hard work.
“I think Jordan Ayew is benefiting from experience now; he’s quite experienced. He has become more mature as a player; his leadership was excellent,” he said.
Jordan Ayew, once criticised by sections of Ghanaian fans, has enjoyed a resurgence in recent international performances, often leading by example with his work rate, commitment and influence in attack.
Vanderpuye, who served as Sports Minister from 2016 to 2017, believes Ayew’s evolution reflects his mental strength and understanding of the game.
Many supporters and analysts have also pointed to his growing leadership role within the national team as a positive sign ahead of crucial international fixtures.
With his current form and maturity, Jordan Ayew is increasingly being viewed as one of the key figures guiding a new generation of Black Stars players.
