Jomoro Fire Station appeals for help

The failure of the Jomoro District Assembly to assist the local District Fire Service Station with 1,000 Ghana Cedis to purchase some parts to repair its Fire Tender has resulted in its vehicle grounded for the past six month.

The Division Officer of the station, Mr. Joseph Buobae, told the Ghana News Agency in an interview that the Headquarters was yet to respond to their request for funds to bring the tender back onto road.

He, therefore, made a passionate appeal to philanthropists, benevolent societies and non-governmental organisations and well-wishers, to come to the aid of the station to repair the vehicle.

According to him, the tender was returning from an official assignment at Nkroful in the Ellembele district, when it developed a fault in the brakes.

He said some mechanics have indicated that the “Activator” needed to repair the Vehicle would cost them 1,000 Ghana Cedis.

Mr Buobae said the situation has prevented the station from responding to calls to fight fire, adding that the station was unable to respond to two minor bush fires recently, and that nearly resulted in the burning of the Zoomlion vehicle, and the office at the premises of the District Administration and the Department of Agriculture.

The DCE, when contacted by the GNA, asked the officials of the Fire Station to provide a pro forma invoice on the repairs for consideration by the Assembly.
