Jobless graduate teachers demonstrate today

Unemployed graduate teachers will today Tuesday, 8 August 2017 hit the streets of Accra in protest against government’s failure to provide them jobs.

The groups comprising the Assembly of University Trained Teachers of Ghana, Unemployed Education Teachers Alliance and Unemployed Graduate Teachers Association, is lamenting the lack of jobs for its members since 2011 despite several engagements with government for their issue to be addressed.

Their action comes in the wake of a series of protests by unemployed trained nurses who are also demanding immediate postings.

The graduate teachers said they will present a petition to the Minister of Education after marching through the principal streets of Accra.

National secretary of the unemployed graduate teachers, Stephen Powas speaking to Class News noted that the protest march has become necessary given the harsh economic realities facing their members.
