Jesus Christ’s teachings, antidotes to human problems

Ho, Dec 23, GNA – Reverend Father Dr L.P Akli, Chaplain of the Ho Polytechnic, has said Jesus Christ’s works and teachings are the antidotes to the “useless pursuit of happiness and pleasure”.

He said “Much of what Christ did with people was to make them feel how worthwhile their work could be and to give them a new inspiration for what they had to do”.

Rev Akli, who said these in a Christmas message at a Festival of Nine Lessons and carols at the Polytechnic, indicated that society needed Christ’s philosophy to inspire its members to give their utmost.

He said the questions that seem to dominate the inner dialogue of most people faced with making a decision, was, “what is in it for me, what is the least I can do to get the maximum reward, if it feels good do it and the notion that freedom is the opportunity to do whatever you want, wherever you want and whenever you want, without the interference of another person?”.

“No community can grow strong with this attitude. Christianity without doubt is confronted with many challenges from modern popular cultures, and to a large extent it is not always very clear whether Christianity is changing the world or the world is transforming Christianity”.
