JBA, ECOBANK partner to train journalists on SMEs reporting

The Journalists for Business Advocacy (JBA) and ECOBANK have jointly held a two-day workshop to train and sensitize journalists on business reporting especially on Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs).

Journalist from print, electronic and online media houses attended the ECOBANK sponsored workshop which took place at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) in Accra last week.

Mustapha Suleman, President of JBA, told TOPFMONLINE.COM after the event that the workshop formed part of JBA’s plans to advocate good policies for businesses/SMEs in Ghana.

In order to achieve this, he said, it was necessary that journalist who articulate issues on SMEs and other businesses should be trained and retrained so as to further deepen their understanding for the sector. Hence, the workshop for JBA members.

Mustapha Suleman stated that JBA is a media advocacy group for small and medium scale enterprises in the country. It provides a potent platform for journalists to remain committed to promoting the SMEs sector as the media’s contribution to raising standards in industrial growth; employment generation; revenue mobilization and poverty alleviation.

ECOBANK has always held the view point that SMEs contribute largely to the reduction of unemployment on the African continent.

It is against this that the bank chose to be part of the capacity building workshop.

Head, Corporate Communications at ECOBANK, Patricia Sappor was in attendance to support journalists as they built their capacity on business /SMEs reporting.
