Japanese government support school

Accra, March 9, GNA – The Japanese government on Friday provided a 71,178 dollars grant to the Bebuso Roman Catholic School in the Kwahu North District for the construction of a school.

The grant, which is under the Japanese Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGHSP), would involve the construction of a kindergarten department and a primary school. Mr Masamichi Ishikawa, Japanese Ambassador to Ghana said the grant was in response to an appeal made by the Kwahu North District on behalf of the school for assistance to facelift the status of the school. “The recipient will build a six-classroom school block, offices, stores a teachers’ bungalow and also cover the procurement of school furniture”, he added.

He noted that the Japanese government recognised and supported the government of Ghana’s emphasis on education, for human capital development as indispensable to the nation’s prosperity. Mr Ishikawa stressed that the support of basic education was one of the key areas of his government in ensuring quality education adding, “the project will secure study space for about 350 local children of school-going age who are currently forced to study in dilapidated buildings”.

Mr Arnold Oduro Adibo, who represented the Kwahu North District Education Service received cheque for the grant, expressed his gratitude and said the project would be completed on time.

He was full of praise for the gesture, which he said, would go a long way to enhance the quality of education in the district by offering a better facility for teaching and learning.
