The Islamic Republic of Iran, the country behind various programmes like the Iran Clinic, an agricultural development programme tagged ARD in some regions has announced plans to construct more universities and libraries throughout the country.
These would be sited in each region of the country.
The new Iranian Cultural Counsellor to Ghana, Dr. Seyyed Majid Sadat Kiaei, who is barely three months old in the country made the disclosure when he spoke to the ADM in an exclusive interview when he joined fellow Muslims to mark his maiden Eid el Fitr at the Independence Square in Accra on Tuesday.
According to him the wholly Iran-supported Islamic University in Accra, is a pilot one intended to pave the way for the construction of more such institutions in the country.
The Islamic University runs courses in various fields some of which Computer Studies, Business Administration and a host of others. Its doors are open to candidates from all religions and nationalities.
There are students from various West African countries studying there currently.
The counselor underscored the aforementioned when he said that his country’s programmes in Ghana are meant to benefit all citizens irrespective of their religious affiliations mentioning for instance the operations of the Iran Clinic and the Islamic University whose services are being enjoyed by members of the various religions in the country.
He added that he would do all that he can to further improve the already cordial relationship existing between his country and Ghana. He has already formed a good impression about Ghanaians whom he describes as “hospitable with warm hearts.”
He recalled that that the Chairman of the National Commission on Culture, Prof Hagan visited Iran under the auspices of both that country’s government and Ghana.
During the visit he said the chairman met and interacted with Ghanaian students studying in various Iranian institutions in such fields as medicine, midwifery, engineering and a host of others.
Ghana and Iran he said can work together in the areas of tourism, education and the economic spheres.
