Investigate NPP, NDC appointees over state lands grabbing – Lawyer

Private legal practitioner, Nana Yaw Osei has questioned the motive behind government’s decision to investigate the alleged fraudulent sale of state lands under previous administration.

He admonished the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government not to rush into investigating only former National Democratic Congress (NDC) appointees on mere rumors and allegations.

Lawyer Nana Yaw Osei questioned why only former government appointees who served from the year 2010 are penciled by the government to be investigated.

Speaking on Kumasi-based Abusua FM morning show hosted by Kwame Adinkra, Nana Yaw Osei demanded both present and past government officials irrespective of political background be investigated if there is any suspicion.

According to him, both appointees in NDC and NPP have all sold state lands and properties to themselves advising government to launch full-scale investigations into all of them.

The Lands Ministry said it is investigating what it says is the fraudulent sale of state lands by the previous administration to party cronies.

According to the sector Minister, John Peter Amewu state lands from 2013 were given away to cronies regardless of due process liking it to the sale of “kelewele”

The Rawlings’ administration has been accused, under a divestiture programme, of selling state properties including the Nsawam cannery to the then first lady Nana Konadu Agyemang.
