Influence positive lives at home – Christian women told

Kumasi, July 18, GNA – Christian women have been urged to influence positive lives in their homes by moulding their children to accept Christ and to follow His pure and moral teachings.

Venerable John Kingsley Mensah, the Archdeacon of the Bekwai Archdeaconry of the Anglican Church, who made the call, noted that it was when children of today accepted Christ, that the evils in the society such as armed robberies, drug abuses, teenage pregnancies and waywardness could be checked.

He was giving a sermon at the installation of officers of the Women Fellowship of the Archbishop Thomas Cranmer Anglican Church at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi on Sunday.

The nine-member executive had Mrs Kate Laryea as President with Mrs Martha Appiah and Miss Cecilia Osei as vice-president and secretary, respectively.

“Your character should influence your household and also you should remove all barriers around you and unite to move the fellowship forward”, he said.

Venerable Mensah reminded them of the need to watch their ways; actions and tongues, which he said could destroy the society. He told the women that God had chosen them to be the light of “this dark world” and that they should lead the fight against acts that were impeding the development of the country. The Archdeacon appealed to the women to promote girl-child education in the society.

The Right-Reverend Daniel Yinkah Sarfo, Anglican Bishop of Kumasi, congratulated the officers and reminded them of the need to be in oneness with God.

Mrs Laryea on behalf of the officers pledged to serve to uplift the image of Christian women not only in the Church but also in the society.
