Indian hemp smokers arrested

Asenemaso (Ash), Aug 20, GNA – Members of the Asenemaso Unit committee near Abuakwa in the Atwima District led by Mr Isaac Adu Boateng on Sunday, arrested two youth for smoking Indian hemp. Joseph Afari, 18 and his friend, Kwaku Mensah, 19, all unemployed, were handed over to the Police at Abuakwa.

According to Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Emmanuel Akonnor, Afari and Mensah were caught smoking the hemp in an uncompleted building on the 25th July this year.

He said when Afari and Mensah were arrested, 55 wrappers of dried leaves believed to be Indian hemp were found on them.

ASP Akonnor appealed to Unit Committees and Neighbourhood Watch Committees to assist the police to clamp down on social vices and criminals in the area.
